Though situated in the vicinity of main traffic arterial roads, Verdala Boys’ Secondary enjoys the privilege of being located on top of Margherita Hill, a small hill which besides giving the school a magnificent panoramic view of the island, endows the building with the privilege of a peaceful atmosphere generally associated with the countryside. Around the central school yard are a number of buildings which host most of the requirements called for by a modern education system. The school in fact boasts of a number of laboratories, including a well appointed physics lab, a chemistry and biology lab, as well as a science lab, all maintained with the assistance of two full time technicians.
There are 5 computer labs which can accommodate several students at a time in three separate classrooms, all provided with the latest computer hardware and software, including Internet connection. An attached media room is also available for the use of all staff and classes, and it comes complete with video projection equipment, as well as overhead and slide projectors. Two art rooms and two technical drawing rooms are housed in a separate block, whilst other subject-specific rooms are available for Music, German, Geography, French, Music and PSD, and a general options room. A small private prayer room is open at all times for the spiritual needs of the students.
The school hall, complete with a stage, is located in a building which is perhaps a unique example of British colonial style architecture. This building now houses the main assembly area, and serves as a pleasant and welcoming venue for festivities, as well as for school formal occasions, such as prize days, exhibitions, concerts, religious services, etc. Physical Education classes are also held in this area, although there is also the open central courtyard where football, volleyball, basketball and hockey courts are located. Next to this main yard is the larger sports ground, behind the new building.
